For starters people forget that Banks has plenty of experience and was trained by the late great Emmanuel Steward. While Mitchell is trained by a relative unknown and has little to no experience. So the outcome should not be too big of a surprise, let down yes, surprise no.
Surprisingly Mitchell does have some decent names on his ledger, which says a lot for a guy who started the sport at 24. Compare this to Deontay Wilder, an olympian with a padded record and not a single person of note.
Mitchell opened the fight behind a very solid jab, which seemed to surprise even Banks. Also, Mitchell was feinting, something I have not seen him do, and was doing it with good effect. The first round was all Mitchell as he even hurt Banks, and in hindsight should have just gone for broke at that point. However he played it cool and Banks made it out of the round relatively easy. The second round was entirely different than the first. Mitchell tried to assert himself and Banks caught him sending him to the canvas. To Mitchells credit he seems to know what to do when he is hurt, grab. Unfortunately for Mitchell Banks was just too good and punches too hard and it was over not long after that first knockdown. Mitchell certainly is no threat to either Klitschko, but he sure is fun to watch. Congratulations to Banks.
