Guerrero vs Berto

On November 24th we will be treated to a welterweight showdown that should prove to be a classic fight. Two highly skilled fighters in spectacular condition, we should be in for a very entertaining night. Berto has a lot to prove having been caught in the midst of a scandal in which he allegedly tested positive for a banned substance. Guerrero, he is looking to carry his momentum from his string of victories into this fight.

Berto has not fought in over a year and in his last fight did not look particularly great. His offense was dazzling, but his defense was non existent, electing to go to war with the relatively unknown Jan Zaveck and looking unimpressive. Having been off for more than a year will prove only to be a hinderance as he faces the best fighter he has ever fought in Guererro. It would not be wise for Berto to turn this fight into a war as Guererro can punch and punches with pinpoint accuracy. For Berto to be successful, he needs to utilize his strengths, his speed and boxing ability. He should avoid a brawl and elect to counter his foe, but it is unlikely because Berto seems to have the warrior mentality. That and having a lot to prove after testing positive for a banned substance, I am betting that Berto comes to fight.

Guerrero, on the other hand, has the momentum coming into this fight. On top of that he also has been far more active than Berto. Guererro needs to turn this fight into a war, although outboxing Berto may be a real possibility. However with Bertos defensive lapses Guererro should be able to capitalize on them and take the upper hand. Guerrero is a very disciplined fighter and as always will come in top form.

Prediction:
I see this being a highly entertaining fight, at least in the beginning. Berto, who has a lot to prove, will come out fighting and may give Guerrero some fits early. However, it won't last. Bertos lack of defense will prove to be his downfall as Guerrero eventually takes control, wears down Berto and knocks him out. Although I could easily see this going the distance, I think Guerrero will go for the knockout has Berto will inevitably tire down the stretch.
